Dolphin Magic

We are very blessed to live where dolphins frequent our ocean with their grace and beauty. Just today I was walking with a friend at Mandurah Quays. We stopped for a cuppa when one dolphin cruised up close. As we left, crossing the walk bridge two dolphins swam insync together. They looked so magical as they moved with ease, stopping everyone in their tracks to watch and admire their journey.

I’ve never been one for snap decisions, taking a leap of faith without some thought process, weighing up the pros and cons; every little detail with due diligence. Reading is at a slow pace as I take my time to digest the information, formulate the bigger picture. I was the kid who when engaged in a subject (as opposed to disengaged being disruptive talking)  would divert my attention outside the window or in a vacuum of space. Here I filtered scramble words to something more meaningful. Until I found that AHA! moment that I had the bigger picture. And all that had to happen before there was any sign of movement or progress. Phew! And I’d always wonder if there was anyone else who did the same. After all, I know I’m special and unique but surely I can’t be the only one who doesn’t fit the so called ‘norm’.

Symbols, numbers and images had me firing on all cylinders. Maths, chemistry, shorthand typing, art therapy; even astrology with its signs and hieroglyphics make more sense than all the letters stuck together. So I guess I rout my information through a different pathway to get the desired results. Astrology gives me an insight into how I communicate, learn, interact and so forth. But here was a tool, that took me deeper into how much my brain influences that process and consequent behaviours.

In fact, the brain has two sides, left and right as well as front and back, making up 4 quadrants. Last year I did the free in8model^®  questionnaire and attended their Blue Print For Change Seminars, that helped explain so much about why I am who I am and what stops me from doing or having what I want. And I think that is what appealed to me. To understand that it was okay to be me and that I didn’t have a label or be stuck in that one position. You don't have permanent traits. You are constantly adapting and changing to your environment. It did, however, show a way of understanding my reality, and explaining much of my behaviour is influenced by my quadrant preference style.

The in8model^® is an excellent tool that gives a clear understanding of what makes your brain see the world like you do.  You receive a mini report on your scores and some insightful exercises to do that will enable you to define and attain the decisions that you have make about 2017.

So as I do, I digest still like to digest my information into a visual picture that seems to help me clarify and gain greater insight to the matter at hand. The above picture is what I produced of my 4 quadrants of the brain, linked together by an interwoven gold thread. Each quadrant with its own colour. All suspended together into a framework. And surprise, surprise!  The one I was most challenged at creating was the yellow Quadrant 1! Here with its different pattern, even different cotton. Yet here it lies, happy and connected, part of the whole.

Universal Tree of Love

Love is so hard to define, often euphoric yet at times with great sadness. Yet love 'we do' and strive for from deep within. Do you bring that same focus and attention to the love you give to yourself? What about that universal love with the right to love and be loved ? 

Love is not something we can see. There has been many a study that shows to thrive; love is key. Love for self and love for and from others. 

So the tree grows, shedding its hearts at different times to return to its source where it lives on forever, replenishing the soil for new growth and life. 

Feel the love vibrations. They are stored in your heart and soul, in your DNA.

Clearing Art Space

Water Colours

Rummaging through my office today attempting to bring some order to my art space, I came across these four watercolour paintings I did a few years ago. I love the flow and unpredictability they bring; the light and shade that naturally occurs even when your not trying.

I find it interesting how I like different mediums at different stages in my life. Maybe times when I need to trust and go with the flow (water colour), when I need to be bold and strong (acrylic on canvas), to be contained and delicate (card making) and push through the resistance  (clay).

So with analogy in mind, I guess I'm being bold and strong whilst balancing with contained and delicate gently flowing between.

Rest Awhile

The sea, the shore beckons.  Be still, rest and enjoy the sun's warmth on your face, whilst salty air kisses your skin.  Sand between your toes as each grain massages your feet. Tide comes and goes forever changing. Always the same, always different. Such a paradox.

A place of peace, where one can get lost in the vista. So much to see no matter the weather. Enjoy, rest awhile. Embrace natures gift that surrounds you.
